All women want to look their best. Yet for the 90 per cent of women whom have cellulite, it is an unwelcome condition that can not only affect their looks but also their self-esteem.

Whether it is summer and time for the swimsuit to come out or a rendezvous in the bedroom, just the thought of cellulite can be embarrassing and shameful for many women.

But what exactly is cellulite? And how do achieve cellulite reduction?

Cellulite is one way the body accumulates fat. Close underneath the skin there is a layer of fat which is much like a honeycomb and in those honeycomb panels the body stores the fat. When there is too much fat the panels begin to bulge resulting in a dimpled appearance on the surface of the skin which is called cellulite. The most common areas for the condition to occur on the lower limbs, abdomen, and pelvic region. The condition affects mostly women because they tend to store more fat for the energy needed for breastfeeding and pregnancy.

There are a number of factors that can increase the appearance of cellulite, including:

hereditary;
hormones;
a diet high in fat, salt or not enough fiber;
lifestyle – such as lack of exercise and smoking; and,
tight clothing.

Exercising and eating right doesn’t necessarily lead to improvement – though it can. This is because there may be other factors such as hormones or hereditary which may be affecting the condition.

How to Get Rid of Cellulite
While it is impossible to get rid of cellulite completely, experts say that it is possible to reduce its appearance by 60 to 80 percent. Mechanical therapy, liposuction and cellulite creams can play there part in reducing the condition’s appearance.

A quick and easy trick for minor cellulite is to use a spray on tan which will reduce or cover up the cellulite’s appearance. However, don’t get a tan from the sun or tanning salon as the ultra violet light can actually damage the collagen in the skin and increase the cellulite’s appearance.

Coffee and seaweed are natural products which can promote the body to absorb more fat and to store less of it. There are creams available which are properly formulated with the correct amounts of coffee and seaweed, and which should be applied externally to the skin where the trouble spots are. There are also other creams that contain other ingredients which are considered effective. Some quick research can quickly let you know what the best creams to use are.

As far as mechanical treatments go, there are a number of options. One is Tri-Active which involves suction massage to promote fluid loss from the skin cells and low intensity heat to promote tighter skin and more collagen. Eights sessions will set you back about $1200.

Velasmooth is a machine that utilizes both radio frequency and infra-red light to heat the fat underneath skin in order to soften it. Each session with a Velasmooth machine will cost about $150.

A well box is a machine that you can use at home. Its increases both blood and lympathic flow to increase fat loss.

Any of these treatments should be combined with a healthy diet of fruit and vegetables, water, and regular exercise.
